Jess Cook, designer at Boston Kitchens, has created an open plan kitchen diner with a sophisticated minimalist look. This is luxury German kitchen design at its most individual and impressive.
Modern handleless Rotpunkt cabinets sweep around a central cooking island and integrated dining table. Countertops and splashback have a dramatic gold-veined dark brown finish.

Rotpunkt anti-fingerprint technology
Fronts, panels, plinths and cabinets are all the same colour – Rotpunkt Carbon HPL, a matt, very dark grey. Part of Rotpunkt’s Metalline range, these Carbon units have a special anti-fingerprint coating to ensure that this kitchen continues to look as immaculate as the day it was installed.
Integrated kitchen islands for cooking and dining
The kitchen island, in a lighter Concreto finish, houses a large induction hob, serviced by a spectacular ceiling-mounted black tubular cooker extractor hood. It’s a design statement in its own right!
Linked to the island is an integrated peninsula dining table which shares the same superb gold veined solid surface. This is a space designed for long evenings and stylish entertaining.
Glass and light and gold make this kitchen glow
There is definitely a sense of theatre in Jess’s design and we love it! Two sets of full height glass-fronted cabinets are lit from within and make atmospheric features to counteract the minimalist slab fronts. Rotpunkt smart-ready lighting is everywhere, illuminating that glorious gold veining on the surfaces. Pendant ceiling lights in an ultra modern black finish bring ambient lighting to the dining area.
Kitchen appliances to complement a grey kitchen
Rather than more usual black and steel finish, Jess has specified a NEFF oven in gunmetal grey. Also in black is the kitchen’s single tap – a Quooker Flex with a flexible pull out hose dispensing 100°C boiling, hot and cold water and a CUBE extension for chilled and sparkling options. Details like these contribute to the overall design success of this memorable and very contemporary grey kitchen.
