More than just a builders’ merchant, Turnbull offers design and planning advice for people looking for a new kitchen or bathroom. Turnbull’s busy Group Showroom Manager Olivia Hopkins took time out from talking to customers to chat about the secret of the company’s continued success.
Q&A with Olivia Hopkins, Group Showrooms Manager
Turnbull is predominantly seen as a builders’ merchant, so what do people get from using a company like you as opposed to a conventional kitchen supplier?
A lot of people think we just provide goods for the building trade, but we’ve actually been designing kitchens and bathrooms for over 40 years. We work a lot with local developers designing the kitchens and bathrooms for everything from affordable housing to luxury developments. So we have a huge amount of knowledge and experience that we’re able to share with homeowners as well.
Our customers love the personal touch that we can offer as a local, family-run, independent business, and many of them return to us again and again. Our showroom team members are skilled at helping customers through the design process – and they work on a non-commissioned basis, so customers can be confident that the products they recommend are the right ones for their project. Plus, we’re here to support customers right through to installation – that’s great reassurance for many people who DON’T buy new bathrooms and kitchens very often. Some of the team come from a trade background – like Greg in our Boston Bathroom Showroom who was a plumber before joining Turnbull. He has lots of great trade tips to tap into!
What can we expect if we visit a Turnbull showroom?
We have over 36 display kitchens and 56 display bathrooms available to view across our showrooms – a really wide range of contemporary kitchens, traditional kitchens and options for large and small bathrooms. All the showrooms are equipped with the latest gadgets and design features – and lots of ideas for inspiration. Plus, we have sample options for countertops, flooring and tiling so customers can get a real feel for what’s available to their taste and within their budget.

What does the future hold for Turnbull?
We currently have showrooms in Sleaford, Brigg, Newark and two in Boston. In 2018 we completely refurbished our Newark showroom and have just completed a new site dedicated to kitchens in Hamilton Way, Boston. Our Brigg showroom is undergoing refurbishment at the moment, due to be completed by the end of spring 2019, and we have exciting plans to open a brand-new showroom in Lincoln in 2019/20.
